QUESTION: Do we need “BIG” mirrors to participate in On Target? We will be able to make contacts with smaller ( 5” x 7” ) mirrors?
ANSWER: BIG mirrors make the event more enjoyable because you can signal to more-distant units, but you can have a lot of fun with smaller mirrors also. The bigger the mirror, the heavier it is and the harder it is to pack it up the mountain. However, the rewards of having the larger mirror become apparent when the signaling starts.
QUESTION: Do we need a ham operator to hike with us in order to participate? We will be okay without a ham operator?
