  • George Albert Smith was married to Lucy Emily Woodruff, Wilford Woodruff’s granddaughter.
  • Bruce R. McConkie was married to Amelia Smith, Joseph Fielding Smith’s youngest daughter.
  • Elder Neal A. Maxwell was married to Colleen Hinckley, President Hinckley’s first cousin-once-removed.  Ira Hinckley, President Hinckley’s grandfather, is Sister Maxwell’s great-grandfather.
  • Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin was married to Eliza Young Rogers, Brigham Young’s great-grandniece.  Sister Wirthlins’s great-grandfather, Joseph Young, was Brigham Young’s brother.
  • Heber J. Grant’s third wife, Emily Harris Wells, was the daughter of Daniel Hanmer Wells.  Daniel H. Wells served for many years as Second Counselor to President Brigham Young.
  • President Harold B. Lee was married to Fern Lucinda Tanner, a first cousin-once-removed of Nathan Eldon Tanner. Sister Lee’s grandfather, Nathan Tanner, was the great-grandfather of Nathan Eldon Tanner.
  • Heber C. Kimball married Mary Fielding Smith, the widow of Hyrum Smith, on September 14, 1844 in Nauvoo, Illinois.  Mary thus became one of several polygamous wives of Heber C. Kimball.  Thus, Elder Kimball was the step-father of Joseph F. Smith
  • Heber J. Grant’s mother, Rachel Ivins, was sealed to the Prophet Joseph Smith.  Thus, Heber J. Grant can rightfully be considered a “son of the Prophet Joseph”.
  • Elder Loren C. Dunn, a former member of the First Quorum of the Seventy, was married to Sharon Longden, the daughter of Elder John Longden, a former Assistant to the Twelve.
